Favorite Summer Smoothies from my Kitchen to yours.
Green Machine Smoothie (serves 1)
•1/2 ripe avocado
•1/2 cup coconut milk
•1/2 cup coconut water (combine organic cream of coconut with a little water to obtain thick coconut milk)
•1 cup chopped fresh, sweet pineapple
•1 handful of kale
•1 tsp. maple syrup (or to taste)
•A pinch of pink Himalayan salt
1. Wash and combine all ingredients in a high speed blender.
2. Add maple syrup and salt to taste,
Green Zinger Smoothie (serves 1)
2 handfuls kale
- thin slice of root ginger
- 1/2 stick celery
- 1/2 c room temperature water
- 1 small sweet apple
- juice of 1/4 lemon or lime
- 3cm or more of cucumber (optional)
1. Blend together the kale, ginger, celery and water until well blended.
2. Add apple, cucumber (if using) and lemon juice and blend well.
Calming Greens Smoothie (serves 2)
- 1 banana (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup green grapes
- 1/4 Hass avocado
- 1/3 cup cilantro, leaves and stems, tightly packed
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, tightly packed
- 1 cup spinach, tightly packed
- 1 1/4 cups water
1. Add all ingredients using a high speed blender.
2. Serve chilled or room temperature
Pineapple/ Banana and Kale Smoothie (serves 1)
1/2 c. banana
1 c. coconut water
1 handful kale (stock removed)
1/4 c. pineapple
1. Peel banana. For best results, juice kale in a vegetable juicer. This will be easier to digest. Otherwise, chop the kale.
2. Blend all ingredients until creamy in a blender. Serve chilled or room temperature garnished with a pineapple slice.
Hangover Helper (serves 2)
1 c. honeydew melon (cubed)
1/2 cucumber peeled
1/2 c. watercress, leaves and top parts of stems, tightly packed
1 c. spinach tightly packed
2 tbsp. parsley tightly packed
1/2 inch ginger root peeled
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 c. coconut water or aloe vera juice (for liver detox)
1. Cube melon, peel ginger and cucumber.
2. Wash all ingredients and blend in a high speed blender.
3. Take this on an empty stomach so that your body can fully absorb the much needed nutrients.
